Millennium Fellowship Project: EmpowerU: Innovating Communities Through Education And Sustainability

The overall aim of EmpowerU is to create a more equitable and sustainable future by educating and empowering students and communities. Through a focus on equality, education, health, and sustainability, we seek to foster a generation that is not only aware of their rights and responsibilities but is also actively contributing to a healthier, more inclusive, and environmentally conscious society.

About the Millennium Fellow

Hello, my name is Ridwan Adeyemo, and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Lagos, pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a focus on software engineering, artificial intelligence, and deep learning where I maintain a strong academic record with a CGPA of 4.84/5.00. As a Software Engineer, I have a proven track record of developing and deploying high-performance, scalable, and reliable software systems. My experience spans multiple technologies, including JavaScript (Node.js, Express.js, React.js, Next.js), Java (Spring Boot), and Python (Django, FastAPI), alongside various cloud platforms. In my most recent role as a Backend Engineer Intern at Michigan State University's Climate-Smart Decision Support Systems Group, I optimized database queries to enhance performance significantly, reducing retrieval time for over 1.4 million sensor records by 85%. Additionally, I’ve led teams in building real-time applications in hackathons and deployed solutions that support key business functions.
I look forward to contributing this my skills in solving sustainability problems in my immediate environment.
