" I am thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow because it empowers me to amplify my impact in promoting health equity and empowering women. Through my work, I aim to bridge the gap in health disparities and create a ripple effect of wellness that resonates throughout communities. I believe that informed women are the catalysts for a healthier future, and I'm committed to igniting this transformation. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Healthy Women Initiative

The project I work on is "Healthy Women Initiative".
The project is about improving public health by ensuring female health targeting women in rural area.
I believe healthy women equal healthy nation because women are more saddled with the responsibility of taking care of the family. For a woman to be healthy, it means she know and applies what to do to be healthy and will extend this to her family members .This will result in healthy families . Healthy families will lead to a healthy and wealthy nation .
My project aims at ensuring that women in rural areas have access to quality health information by teaching them basic health education using simplified ,easy to understand terms and even their native language.
In this part of the world,a lot of public health issues can be prevented by ensuring that the uneducated or illiterate people especially women have access to correct health information.Taking the case of Antimicrobial resistance, a global health challenge as an example, most of the people that abuse antibiotics in Nigeria are women especially those in rural area.It was discovered that these women use antibiotics as contraceptive. This is quite shocking because there is no correlation between the work of antibiotics and preventing conception .This problem can be solved by ensuring that women most especially those in rural area have access to correct health information and this is one of the things my project was based upon.
