Community Waste Management Initiative at the University of Malawi and some areas in Zomba community:
As part of our cohort's community development project, we embarked on the Community Waste Management Initiative, aimed at addressing the pressing issues of broken sewage pipes and plastic disposal in our community, specifically within the University of Malawi and surrounding areas in Zomba. So, our objective was to create a cleaner, healthier, and sustainable environment by mitigating the dangers and risks associated with these problems. The community faced significant challenges due to broken sewage pipes contaminating water sources, posing health risks to residents, and improper plastic disposal choking drainage systems, harming wildlife, and polluting the environment.

About the Millennium Fellow

Grey Jared is a fueled ambitious young man. He is currently studying biological sciences undergraduate degree at University of Malawi. His love for quality in education has sparked a bot of eager lightening to embark on advocating for it. Education is a key that opens doors of life. Systematically, education has been programmed to favor certain group of people in society. As a result, all from disadvantage backgrounds are cast off to unlikely achieve something in life. Thus, the urge to help these people to realize their life purpose. My advocacy aligns with principles of UNAI and UNSDG number 4. A call for change drove Grey Jared to also advocate for an environment conducive to dwell upon. The interest in this connects with sdg 15. By the way, I have collaborated with other fellows in my campus to do a group project that is in pursuit of sdg number 3 and 6. Sustainability is the principle we have agreed upon to make sure is implemented on the ground.
