Millennium Fellowship Project: Hygiene Promotion and Cholera Prevention Initiative

In response to the ongoing cholera outbreak and increased water contamination risks following recent floods in Maiduguri, our Millennium Fellowship campus team launched the Hygiene Promotion and Cholera Prevention Initiative. This project aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, focusing on clean water and sanitation, as it aims to improve personal hygiene awareness and promote safe water practices among students in high-risk areas. The floodwaters have damaged boreholes built by the government, leaving many communities without access to safe water. As a result, residents rely on alternative sources, such as rivers and wells, which are now contaminated, increasing the spread of cholera.
