" Creativity, self-actualization, and belongingness, driven by critical thinking, prompt my goals. Being a member of the Millennium Fellowship will sharpen these skills synergically. The knowledge and skills I gained here will help me make my health and social impact on communities and schools that are aligned with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I'm thrilled to make this journey with the Millennium Fellowship. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Curbing Substance Abuse In Universities
Curbing substance abuse in universities focused on creating a platform
where men and women, especially youths within my campus are educated on the right approach to
break free from the chains of substance abuse and addiction. To achieve an abuse-free university campus, it is
important to deal with the root causes and tackle the problem primarily. If individuals are properly educated and enlightened about such topics, abuse and addiction will be
reduced to the barest minimum and also support will be offered instead of ostracizing those engaged in this.
About the Millennium Fellow
Sylvia Chikamdinaka Nwachukwu is a young, smart, inquisitive pharmacy student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She was born in Anambra state, Nigeria, and is currently studying in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria. For as long as she can put together articulate thoughts, Sylvia has been passionate about a better world with good health and well-being, especially in the abandoned rural areas in the tropics. This has been her driving force in associating with both local and international communities to bridge this health gap. Throughout her secondary school years and currently, in her university years, she has successfully participated in various philanthropic and healthcare projects, including the just-concluded ISPOR 1000: Project Buzz Off Mosquitoes. Sylvia desires to be in a professional environment where she can meet like-minds, grow these advocacies, and also offer her contribution to the development of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals.
