About the Millennium Fellow

Mary Phiri is a young passionate lady pursuing a B.A Development studies at the University of Zambia, Great East Road campus . Mary was born and raised in Chongwe
district, Zambia. She was raised in a small village called sheleni village in a family of
three girls by both parents. After completing her secondary education, she tried to
apply at Family legacy as volunteer ( an organization that supports vulnerable
children), because of the passion she has for children, but unfortunately she was not
given the opportunity because they said she was too young at the time. Since then she
has been trying to find an opportunity to share her passion with the world and has
never given up. With the help of the knowledge Mary has acquired in the past three
years of being a student at the University of Zambia, Mary gained more understanding
