" The Millennium Fellowship will create a platform for me from which I will learn more skills and network with various individuals from whom I can learn from and collaborate with in future projects. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Safe space

Safe space is a project aimed at promoting good mental health through training of future health professionals to become mental health promotors. Health professionals treat their patients holistically and it is noted that mental health is something overlooked. Training health professionals as health promotors would equip them with the relevant knowledge and skills needed to address the complexities of mental health across different populations.

About the Millennium Fellow

Michelle Chituta is a final year physiotherapist student who is passionate about health systems and management. Once she was exposed to the clinical area she took interest in the health systems of her country, the challenges faced and the research done concerning major public health concerns and health promotion .She developed a keen interest in research and noticed that there are so many areas in which the health systems in her country can improve through further research and policy implementation. She hopes to do more research on major public health concerns and health promotion, and later on be involved in health systems and management of her country.
