Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Giving Project

Green Giving project is a project which was focused on two main SDGs, zero hunger and climate action, in this project we planted and distributed over 1000 fruit trees in our community while prioritizing mothers and the elderly. It is a project that impacted over 500 people in our community, and we have been following up with the families who received the fruit trees and the results are promising.

About the Millennium Fellow

I am Dieudonne Iyaturinze, a Year 4 Agricultural Economics student at the University of Rwanda - Busogo Campus. I am passionate about agriculture. I worked at ASEF (African Students Education Funds) Rwanda as an intern for four years, where I assisted many vulnerable high school students by providing school fees and materials. I was born in the western region of Rwanda and still reside there. I am a proactive and responsible individual, driven by empathy and a commitment to my nation and the world as a whole. Being a student in the agriculture sector provided me with information about the problems our community faces, such as malnutrition and food security. This encouraged me to take responsibility for finding ways to contribute to my country's development by addressing these issues through training farmers in modern agricultural practices to increase their harvests. I am also working on a project to help smallholder farmers obtain more capital to overcome challenges related to irrigation, pests, and diseases on their farms. I successfully organized the Mushroom Project to address malnutrition in my region, benefiting many vulnerable children. I am also committed to supporting my nation and inspiring my generation to strive for a better future.
