United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Giving Project

Green Giving project is a project which was focused on two main SDGs, zero hunger and climate action, in this project we planted and distributed over 1000 fruit trees in our community while prioritizing mothers and the elderly. It is a project that impacted over 500 people in our community, and we have been following up with the families who received the fruit trees and the results are promising.

About the Millennium Fellow

initially born in Uganda but now living in Kigali, Rwanda, Umutoni Sumayiya is a committed student of soil sciences at the University of Rwanda, Busogo campus, Musanze, Rwanda.She has volunteered with Lessons in Conservation , a non governmental organization that aims at teaching the young generation all about conservation in Musanze and has continuously advocated for environmental conservation and fighting climate change throughout her time in high school and college. Sumayiya is passionate about empowering girls to participate in modern agriculture and innovative solutions. She envisions combining her love of startups with her academic background to create sustainable impacts in her community through agriculture and conservation initiatives.
