United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Farms Initiative

Green Farms Initiative (GFI) is a climate-focused organization based in Nyagatare, Rwanda, founded in 2022. It specializes in afforestation, agroforestry, and sustainable agriculture to combat climate change. GFI uses water-efficient greenhouse nurseries with drip irrigation systems, promotes water harvesting techniques, and engages communities in environmental conservation. It prioritizes reforestation in areas with significant vegetation loss and conducts research on sustainable water management and eco-friendly farming practices to support climate resilience and food security.

About the Millennium Fellow

Jean Damascene Ngirinshuti is young undergraduate student in University of Rwanda, school of agriculture engineering, he is dedicated and passionate in agriculture as well as making a positive impact on the communities through achieving the sustainable development goals such as Zero hunger, climate actions and no poverty by advancing agriculture practices such as irrigation systems, agroforestry and agroprocessing with technology.
