Millennium Fellowship Project: Bringing Smiles to Rwanda: A Mobile Dental Clinic

Limited access to healthcare facilities, particularly oral health services, remains a significant challenge in rural Rwanda. This project proposes the development of a mobile dental clinic utilizing repurposed shipping containers to address these disparities. By bringing dental care directly to underserved communities, the mobile clinic will reduce travel burdens and improve access to essential oral health services. Additionally, the project aims to create internship opportunities for dental students, fostering their professional development while benefiting the community. The use of repurposed shipping containers aligns with sustainable practices, minimizing the project's environmental footprint and reducing the need for new materials. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to both improving healthcare access and promoting environmental sustainability. The success of this project could serve as a model for expanding access to other essential services in underserved areas while adopting eco-friendly approaches.
