" Community-oriented work is important to me. I believe the best climate resiliency solutions are conscious of people’s lived experiences, which motivates me to preserve seeds that reflect Tampa Bay’s diverse communities in my seed library initiative. I’m excited to learn and am prepared to become inspired by other Millennium Fellows to uplift the garden community at my university. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: USF Seed Library

The Seed Library at the University of South Florida aims to serve as a public resource for preserving agricultural biodiversity and cultural heritage by educating about seeds, seed-saving and planting seeds and providing accessible free access seeds. This project promotes seed saving and exchange among the university and local community.

About the Millennium Fellow

Dharsh Saravana is pursuing Environmental Science & Policy at the University of South Florida. They are interested in urban systems, environmental policy, and climate resilience. They aim to center their career on understanding the lived experiences and stories of economically disadvantaged urban communities to provide support for extreme weather and climate preparedness. With experience in collaborating with small-scale urban community gardens and farms, they currently promote food sovereignty as a climate resiliency solution through their leadership in the Agrarian Club and the student-led “Food Sovereign Farmers Market".
