" "As a first-generation immigrant and an advocate for women's health, I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a unique platform to empower my efforts in making a meaningful impact on the world. I am deeply committed to serving others and improving the lives of children and women, and the Millennium Fellowship allows me to envision new ways to advance health and well-being. Through my platform in the Millennium Fellowship I am making a lasting difference in the lives of those I am passionate about helping. I get the chance to work with like-minded individuals who share my vision of creating a better world, and tackle the SDGs of reducing inequality and promoting peace and justice, by providing awareness in my local community on the growing issue of human trafficking." Millennium Fellowship Project: Students Against Trafficking
Students Against Trafficking (SAT) is a student organization at the University of South Florida (USF) that aims to combat human trafficking activities. This was achieved by educating college students on the dangers of human trafficking, signs that indicate trafficking victims, and ways to report these illicit activities. In addition, SAT promotes anti-trafficking movements that promote a sense of safety on-campus, which reassures potential victims of their safety and encourages them to speak out. In addition to on-campus events, SAT also collaborated with USF's College of Public Health, local anti-trafficking organizations, and even University of Michigan’s College of Nursing, where experts were able to provide valuable insights on the subject of human trafficking. Through social media, we brought our campaigns online to reach an even larger audience.
