United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

" The Millennium Fellowship will enable me to have access to experienced mentors. I will be able to connect with experienced mentors who have a deep understanding of the social impact space. These mentors can offer valuable insights, share their own experiences, and provide guidance on various aspects of driving social change. They can help me to refine my goals, develop strategies, and navigate challenges effectively. The fellowship will also be beneficial as it will help in skills development. This is a great opportunity for skill development tailored my specific needs.This will include include workshops, trainings, and resources focused on areas such as leadership, project management, fundraising, advocacy, or community engagement. By honing my skills, l can enhance my ability to drive meaningful social impact. The fellowship will provide me with a good networking platform.l will be able to access a network of like-minded individuals who are pursuing social impact initiatives. This network can be a valuable source of support, collaboration, and inspiration. Fellow participants may come from diverse backgrounds and bring different perspectives, creating opportunities for partnerships, knowledge sharing, and collective problem-solving. This fellowship will involve regular check-ins and feedback sessions with mentors and this will be key as l will have accountability partners. This accountability will help me to stay focused on my goals and maintain momentum in my social impact work. Mentors can provide constructive feedback, challenge assumptions, and offer fresh perspectives, enabling me to refine my approaches and identify areas for improvement. This fellowships will provide access to a range of opportunities that can help me to expand my social impact. This may include introductions to potential funders, connections to influential stakeholders, invitations to events and conferences, or exposure to media or publication opportunities. Such exposure can amplify the impact of my work and open doors to new possibilities.
The fellowships will foster my personal and professional growth. I will be able to gain confidence, develop a deeper understanding of my own strengths and weaknesses, and cultivate valuable leadership and communication skills. This growth not only enhances my ability to make a difference but also equips me with transferable skills that can benefit my future endeavors. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Empowered Youth Generation
Empowered Youth Generation is an association that is registered under Zimbabwe Youth Council. It seeks to promote leadership and civic participation particularly in vulnerable groups such as orphans and children living in the streets.
About the Millennium Fellow
Chimbga Mitchel is a young transformative leader of the Sustainable Development Goals with a particular focus on goal 1 and 2. She is a dynamic, ambitious and authentic social entrepreneur and educator who is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential. With the personal mantra of "Keeping the Vibes lit, Keeping Roots Alive," she approaches each day with excitement and drive. As a high-achiever, she is responsible, dependable, and takes great pride in delivering high-quality work. She is also the founder of Empowered Youth Generation which is an organisation that seeks to empower young people for African development. It offers consultancy services to help young people and those that work with youths reach their full potential. In addition to her work with Empowered Youth Generation, she sits in the boards of various organisations . She is the Chairperson of the National Aids Council Young People’s Network board. She holds the post of VC at the Multi Aid Support Organization Youth Network. She is the Secretariate for the National Associations of Social Workers,aYETT and YALI Alumni., She is a Redcross Volunteer, a GirlUp Gweru Chairperson, Young Voices Trust Gweru Secretariate, Good Deeds Trust Project Coordinator amongst other posts. She also offers her expertise as an independent consultant, working with Government, NGOs, and Corporates. Above all of her endeavors, she is dedicated and strives to make a positive impact on those around her.She aims at seeing every woman being empowered and independent
