" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it provides a unique platform where I am able to collaborate with like-minded peers and work on our collective impact. I do the work that I do so that I can empower marginalized communities and advocate for their rights, driving meaningful change that can contribute to a more equitable and just society. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: You Matter

This is an initiative which seeks to raise awareness of the rights that vulnerable groups in Zimbabwe have such as the right to health. These vulnerable groups include children, persons with disabilities, elderly persons because they are often overlooked and there is so much disinformation, malinformation and misinformation which spreads concerning these groups and their rights and hinders access to essential services such as healthcare and facilitates inequality discrimination and stigma. My project seeks to raise awareness and dispel disinformation.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ruth Tsanga is a dedicated and committed law student at the University of Zimbabwe, who focuses on advocating for the realization of socio-economic and cultural rights, particularly for vulnerable groups. Her passion for law and development led her to co-found Young Persons for Climate Justice Africa, a youth-led organization which advocates for climate justice through a legal lens. Ruth aspires to leverage her legal expertise to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that marginalized voices are heard and protected in Zimbabwe's socio-legal landscape. Through her advocacy, she aims to foster equitable solutions that address legal, socio-economic, cultural and environmental challenges.
