" ‘ “She” and “he” should be the same’ is a collaborative project proposed by Millennium Fellow Yuetong Zhao and conducted by 10 Millennium Fellows from Xi ’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. It hopes to discover the phenomenon of gender discrimination in the workplace through research and interviews, and to alleviate or even solve this social problem. The project aim is to interact with members of the XJTLU community (including students and faculty), as well as communities and companies in Suzhou, to reflect on the social dilemma of women's discrimination in the workplace through the data support, and to take some concrete measures to help female employs to alleviate the pressure of workplace discrimination when they enter the labor market. "

Millennium Fellowship Project:  “She” and “He” Should Be The Same

The project titled "She" and "He" Should Be the Same aims to investigate and address gender discrimination in the workplace, particularly within the context of Suzhou and the XJTLU community. The project utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative research to gather comprehensive data on gender-based discrimination, including pay gaps, career advancement challenges, and workplace culture. The findings will be used to develop practical solutions and recommendations for both educational institutions and businesses to promote gender equality and support female employees. The project also seeks to raise awareness, foster dialogue, and advocate for policy changes to create a more inclusive work environment.

About the Millennium Fellow

Liu Yisui is an ambitious young professional currently studying Financial Mathematics at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Throughout his academic journey, Liu has been actively involved in various consulting and marketing projects, with a particular focus on user behavior analysis and strategic marketing. He has also made significant contributions in career planning and job search guidance, helping his peers with resume editing and interview preparation. Liu aspires to further his career in corporate strategy or consulting, aiming to contribute to global business and technological innovation.
