" Passion and willingness to learn drive community action. I hope to utilize the skills I learn through the Millennium Fellowship to help all my communities. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Cleaning the Creek
I am working with Yale to conduct research and ideally speed up the process of cleaning up Newtown Creek—a highly polluted body of water in my neighborhood—that was designated as a Superfund site in 2010. The EPA has significantly delayed the site’s cleanup, which would address decades of significant industrial pollution, sewage dumping, and other contaminants. I have engaged with the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy, the Yale Superfund Research Center, the Yale Center for Environmental Justice, and related groups affiliated with Yale College, Yale School of the Environment, and Yale Law School. I have also worked with local groups such as the Newton Creek Alliance and the Newtown Creek Superfund Site Community Advisory Group (CAG).
