Millennium Fellowship Project: Plastic Recycling for Sustainable Farming
The main aim of this project is to transform plastic waste into affordable, high-quality farming tools, promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation in Ethiopia. We strive to empower farmers with innovative, cost-effective solutions while reducing plastic pollution and fostering a circular economy.
During the Millennium Fellowship, our Plastic Recycling for Sustainable Farming project achieved key goals in awareness, waste collection, and prototyping. We engaged over 220 students and community members, surpassing our awareness target, and collected about 25 kg of plastic waste, exceeding our planned goal. We also produced three recycled farming tool prototypes, including a hand trowel and seedling trays.
