United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Connecting Mind, Body, and Mental Well-Being

Program Title:* "Unraveling Mental Health: Connecting the Dots Between Mind, Body, and Well-being"

*Age Group:* School children (ages 12-18)

*Program Objective:*

1. Educate students about mental health, depression, and suicide prevention.
2. Promote emotional well-being, self-awareness, and resilience.
3. Foster a supportive school environment.

*Program Structure:*

Module 1: Introduction to Mental Health

1. Define mental health and its importance
2. Discuss common mental health issues (anxiety, depression)
3. Introduce the concept of emotional well-being

Module 2: Understanding Emotions

1. Identify and express emotions
2. Recognize emotional triggers and responses
3. Practice emotional regulation techniques (deep breathing, mindfulness)

Module 3: Depression and Suicide Prevention

1. Define depression and its symptoms
2. Discuss suicide prevention and warning signs
3. Counseling

Module 4: Building Resilience

1. Develop coping strategies (problem-solving, positive thinking)
2. Foster self-esteem and confidence
3. Encourage self-care practices (exercise, sleep, nutrition)

Module 5: Support Systems

1. Identify trusted adults (parents, teachers, counselors)
2. Discuss importance of social connections and friendships
3. Introduce school counseling services

Module 6: Mind-Body Connection

1. Explore the link between physical and mental health
2. Discuss healthy habits (exercise, nutrition, sleep)
3. Introduce relaxation techniques (yoga, meditation)

*Delivery Methods:*

1. Interactive presentations
2. Group discussions
3. Role-playing exercises

*Assessment and Evaluation:*

1. Pre- and post-program surveys
2. Student feedback and suggestions
3. Teacher and counselor feedback

About the Millennium Fellow

Ihezie Bernadette is a bright, young medical student from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma. Nigeria. She was born in Jos, Nigeria , hails from Imo state but resides in Edo State. Definitely a global citizen. Bernadette is a dedicated advocate for community development, driven by a deep passion for creating sustainable change and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. With a strong commitment to improving lives, she actively engages in initiatives that address social needs, promote education, and foster inclusive growth. Bernadette believes in the power of collaboration and grassroots action to build resilient communities. Her vision is to inspire transformation by combining empathy, strategic thinking, and practical solutions that leave a lasting impact on the people she serves.
