United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: BrightHer-Lifesavers Initiative

Project Title: BrightHer-LifeSavers Initiative
Project Focus: Empowering women and girls through Health, Literacy, and Human Rights and Empowering Individuals with Life Saving Skills(CPR)
Project Overview
The BrightHer-LifeSavers Initiative aims to promote women’s health and empowerment through:
• Health Education: Menstrual hygiene, adequate nutrition, reproductive care, and maternal and child health.
• Life-Saving Skills: Training participants in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other basic emergency response techniques.
Through these activities, we were able to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 4, and 5 — Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, and Gender Equality.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ihuoma Blossom Okere is a young, passionate girl from Imo State, Nigeria.
She was born in Lagos state to two doctors and resides in that same state ever since. She is studying Medicine and Surgery at Afe babalola University. A dream that was inspired by her parents unwavering dedication and love for medicine and health. She is passionate about the girl child, health and fashion and has done her part in her 23 years of life to follow those passions closely. She is a feminist firstly which was a movement she resonated with since she was in primary school, after not being allowed to be a class captain , since then she has always educated girls in her own circle on why they are important and how much they are able to do. She loves fashion and runs a handmade jewelry design store, where she expresses her creativity with her hands in her spare time, this has been running successfully for 4 years. She has amazing leadership skill and has held a number of leadership positions from childhood till adulthood like being the head girl of her primary school, and various others.
She will love to be a part of Millennium Fellowship and this opportunity means a lot to her! She definitely cannot wait to get onboard with all the project the community has for her!
