" Having experienced the duality of education systems and the profound impact it can have on the professional and intellectual growth of young adults, I strive for education policy reform. My goal is to ensure that socioeconomic status no longer inhibits the potential of any child who dreams big. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Community Book Drive

Our project aimed to collect books and other school materials in order to distribute the materials to underfunded schools in our local community in need of resources. We also aim to grow this initiative and once we achieve success, we plan on expanding our project to include a more diverse array of schools throughout the country. Our target audience was the primary school students within our local community surrounding our university, and the schools themselves. As of right now, we have set up small scale book collections and donated them to primary schools within our local community school district. We have laid the foundations and built the connections within our school and have set up a larger university wide book drive in the coming month that will achieve the main goals of our project. This book drive will distribute educational resources to underfunded schools in our region of the city and also to students in need. We have already achieved success and we look forward to achieving all of our goals by the end of the year.

About the Millennium Fellow

Roza Karteri is a sophomore majoring in International Relations at the American College of Greece. She was born and currently resides in Greece, but she spent her high school years living abroad in Denmark in an international school while completing the International Baccalaureate program. The blend of diverse cultures has inspired her to pursue a career in international law in the future where she can continue her human-rights based activism and to promote social justice and sustainable development. Roza has both led and participated in community-development projects which the Millennium Fellowship will allow her to further expand in preparation for her aspiring work in diplomacy.
