" I may know the issue from my close friends, not the big community perspective. I aim to gain the right skills that foster human-centered design and bridge the gap between different stakeholders, from leadership to making a social impact and the environment. Most importantly, the Millennium Fellowship will provide knowledge about SDGs and give me the foundation for my project to keep working even after the fellowship. This fellowship will also lend a hand in building connections with like-minded people and fostering collaboration with shared vision organisations. Can't wait! "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Kijiji

The Kijiji project is a community-centered health platform inspired by traditional African village conversations to improve health literacy, well-being, and access to culturally relevant health information. One of the pilot programs within Kijiji is "Kijiji Talks," which utilizes TED Talk-style events, including panels, debates, and workshops, centered on mental health and other key health topics aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Initially, the program has reached over 700 youth across schools and universities in Rwanda, with plans for a wider official launch and partnerships aimed at sustainably promoting community health. Kijiji Talks blends traditional and modern communication methods to enhance knowledge sharing and advance health equity, supported by local health experts and multi-sector collaboration.
Overall, Kijiji and the Kijiji Talks pilot program aim to build an inclusive health movement that empowers youth and communities in Rwanda and across Africa to become agents of transformative health change.
