" I get information from my friends, then I search. I have a plan to empower myself, then all the Afghan girls and women. This is the best place for me to have a valid organization that tries to help those who have ambitions. I have goals to do something for Afghan girls to follow their dreams, never give up. This is not easy, so I need an organization to help me achieve my goals. I am thankful for this opportunity to do for myself and for the future of society. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: STEM Pathways for Afghan Girls

It is undeniable that Afghan women have been denied their fundamental rights since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. I aspire to develop leadership skills and become the voice of thousands of girls deprived of their rights. My goal is to be a leader for Afghan girls and create plans for their empowerment. For instance, I run mentorship programs and teach them English, math, and computer skills to help them learn and stay motivated as they move towards their dreams.
I believe the development of a society depends on the education of women. An educated woman can change society; however, an uneducated woman may be ignored by society. Unfortunately, most of the Afghan girls face many challenges in education, are forced to get married at an early age, and violence against women is also evolving.
In my project , my main goals are to provide some programs in education, their skills, and my support, and also to take care of their mental health . I will ensure them that I will always be with them and help them to pursue their goals, rights, and dreams.

About the Millennium Fellow

Zuhal Attayee from Afghanistan. I studied in Marefat High School. I did the Konkor examination, and I was accepted into my favorite faculty, Kabul Polytechnic, because I love math, and it's been my dream to become an Engineer in the Afghan society. Since the taliban took power in Kabul, they haven't allowed us to go to university. I have a dream that never take my dream to be an impoverished girl, I work on my English language to find a scholarship. I take the offer from AUW. I am grateful to AUW for being the woman that I have dreamed of. I come from Afghanistan, and I can understand the situation of all the women and girls from mentally and physically. I promised myself I will work hard to be a leader for the future of Afghan girls, and I will do my best to do even simple things to improve their lives. They are innocent, and they deserve the life that they have always dreamed of, like me.
