United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

I am also excited to learn from and connect with like-minded passionate individuals that aim to develop the society and work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Further, I am looking forward to gain global exposure and invaluable learnings directly from mentors through the webinars. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Panchayat Library Initiative
During the period of fellowship, I collaborated with the Community Engagement Initiative (CEI) that is active in my university. Under the CEI, there are volunteers who engage in the local community to empower them into developing a brighter future ahead. My aim was to engage with children of labourers in and around the area that visit the panchayat library frequently to empower them in building their vocabulary and language capabilities. I believe quality education can be the life changing route for breaking the cycle of poverty and overcoming the intergenerational trauma. One of the essential skills that can enhance opportunities for these children is having a hold over the English language and being able to converse effectively. My plan was to engage with these children and build their conversational capabilities in English and build their literacy through reading books/demonstrating storytelling activities etc.
About the Millennium Fellow
Krithi Nambiar is a dynamic, committed and a passionate individual pursuing her Bachelor's currently at Azim Premji University. She is doing a B.Sc. B.Ed. integrated double degree in Biology to pursue both research as well as her passion for education and teaching. She also has a keen interest in community development and ensuring access to quality education for children.
