Azim Premji University Bengaluru | Bengaluru, India | Advancing SDG 16 & UNAI 3

" I am very passionate about children's rights, be it in terms of access to education, healthcare, sanitation, food, water, and much more. I believe that with the proper resources, awareness, and network of mentors, children in my region and even around the world can one day have and enjoy these basic rights. I have worked with young children of migrant workers and helped them advance their skills in primary subjects such as Math and English, and I also believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Through this fellowship, this scope can be increased and benefit so many more children. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Safe Child Safe Society
I would like to spread awareness about child abuse, exploitation, and violence against children including child marriage and child labor in my surroundings and other areas among both children and adults to ensure that this exploitation can be lowered to a certain degree. I plan to visit neighboring government schools in my area as well as other areas in my city and conduct workshops to educate children on the meaning of consent, the meaning of good touch and bad touch, and make them aware of support systems and helplines that they can turn to. These workshops will also involve spreading awareness among teachers in these schools about the prevalence of child abuse to ensure they take timely action and react appropriately in case of in such cases. These workshops can be done in collaboration with local schools and safe spaces can be created for children to conduct awareness campaigns and make them aware of their rights. Awareness can be spread online and via social media as well.
