Millennium Fellowship Project: Seeds of Apricity

My project Apricity is focused on health equity in underserved populations. This is due to my belief that a person could have a million problems but that drastically reduces to just one once they are indisposed. Good health is a privilege that most take for granted so Apricity has charged itself with the responsibility of advocating for better health outcomes of those who are less privileged and ensuring that they are aware of their health and health rights. In Nigeria today, health misinformation is rampant. This is perhaps as a result longstanding religious or Cultural beliefs, whatever the case, it has resulted in negative health seeking behaviors which lead to delay in receiving required care thereby increasing the mortality and morbidity counts for otherwise minor illnesses. Knowledge, they say is power and Apricity has vested interest in arming the general populace with the power to take charge of their health.
Additionally, the state of primary health centers in Nigeria is abysmal. This cuts off access to quality healthcare in rural communities where primary health care centers are the only source of good medical care. This also places a strain on secondary and tertiary health care facilities further compounding the problem. By advocating for better health policies and bringing quality healthcare to doorsteps by means of health outreaches, Apricity is improving health access for all Nigerians.
