" Whilst the importance of social impact is often emphasized, hardly ever are opportunities to achieve it provided. I am excited to have grasped an opportunity that allows me the platform to advocate for mental health in an environment where it is so rarely spotlighted, and one that is so well invested in actual progress and results. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Eupsychia
The abridged definition of 'eupsychia', a word coined by Abraham Maslow, is 'a psychologically healthy culture', and I honestly couldn't think of a better name for the project I'm working on undertaking. I'm aiming to create a campus-wide and possibly multi-campus-wide platform for mental health improvement among college students. Through shared everyone experiences and mental health challenges among the engaging audience, I hope to send the following message: 'You are not alone, in both your experiences and mental health struggles'. I figured, what better way to reach college students than through college students?
About the Millennium Fellow
Yetunde Seriki is a unique young woman who recently developed an interest in mental health and its advocacy in young adults and who is hoping to use the MCN platform to amplify her efforts towards such. She was born in Lagos, Nigeria and is currently an aspiring medical doctor in her penultimate year of medical school, with a handful of volunteer efforts and mental health committee memberships under her belt. She is also a budding creative writer. It is her hope that she will be able to both give and receive an excellent impact from this opportunity.
