Millennium Fellowship Project: Climate Impact
To describe my project briefly, I have divided it into two parts: a tree plantation drive and plastic-free campaigns. Additionally, my project may include organizing lectures and workshops on climate change in collaboration with Bahria University Law Society. For the tree-plantation drive, I plan to organize it in the neighborhoods of my friends from different areas within Islamabad. The basic idea is that each one of my friends will plant at least about 20 to 30 trees in the area and take care of them until they are self-sustaining. Regarding funding, I have decided that each of my friends may contribute as much as they can, as this would also benefit them in the long term. Additionally, I have also decided to collaborate with any Local organization that I may find to fund this initiative. Regarding the plastic-free campaigns, I have decided to start them within my university. The first step would be to stop the use of plastic water bottles, which would only be possible by ensuing provision of clean drinking water on campus. The next step would be to encourage cafeterias to stop selling food items in plastic packaging and gradually expand this effort.
