" "Empathy and enthusiasm towards people, especially those with ocular challenges, fuel my passion for the work I do. Right from my 3rd year, I have been involved in community outreaches—educating, screening, diagnosing, and counseling individuals on their eye health. I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it will give me the edge to reach a wider range of people, extending my service as a doctor of optometry while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Clear Vision for All

Project Title: Clear Vision for All. The overarching goal of "Clear Vision for All" is to increase underprivileged populations' knowledge of the importance of eye health and their ability to get necessary eye care services. This campaign will be spearheaded by myself, an optometry student and my mentor, to tackle the serious problem of uncorrected vision disorders. Parts That Are Crucial: • Vision Screenings: Provide underprivileged people, such as children and the elderly, with free eye screenings at health fairs, community centers, and schools. • Workshops for Educators: Bring in experts to talk about common eye disorders, how important it is to have your eyes checked often, and other topics related to eye health. Help local optometrists put up interesting and educational seminars. • Spectacles by Donors: Collaborate with groups that provide free spectacles to distribute to those who need corrective lenses during exams. • Community Engagement: Leverage social media and local media to increase awareness about the significance of eye health and notify the community about future activities. Impact: By offering screenings, information, and resources, "Clear Vision for All" will empower people with the knowledge and skills essential for preserving their eye health, thereby increasing their quality of life.
