As a medical student, I am driven by the belief that equitable access to healthcare and education is essential for sustainable development. My work is motivated by the principles of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), with the aim of creating lasting, meaningful change that is locally relevant yet globally significant. Millennium Fellowship Project: Talk Cancer Away
Talk Cancer Away is a cancer advocacy project focused on educating Nigerian youth about common cancers, prevention methods, and the importance of raising awareness in their homes and communities. Targeting grassroots youth, the project aims to empower them to become agents of change by understanding cancer risks and promoting healthy practices. The initiative successfully reached its intended audience, equipping participants with valuable health knowledge and inspiring proactive engagement in cancer prevention within their communities.
About the Millennium Fellow
Zainab Attahir is a hardworking medical student who is passionate about creating change in her community through community health, health education, and advancing equitable access to care. She is committed to addressing health disparities through initiatives that combine research, advocacy, and grassroots engagement. With a strong belief in the power of informed communities, she aims to create projects that empower individuals to make healthier choices and improve overall well-being. Through the Millennium Fellowship, she seeks to strengthen her leadership skills and expand the impact of her work on underserved populations.
