Millennium Fellowship Project: Improving Higher Education Access in Waco
The Improving Higher Education Access in Waco initiative partnered with AVID, an international program focused on providing college education prep to students with limited resources. Fellows each mentored two middle or high school students in the Waco community on what college looks like, how to succeed in college, fellows delivered presentations to over 8 local schools. and hosted an on-campus college day where students aged 12-17 came to Baylor University for a day, attended classes, and engaged in classroom activities.
About the Millennium Fellow
Ansley Arquitt is a Junior Biology and Medical Humanities pre-medicine student at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, USA. Ansley is driven to address the barriers that face her community in Waco, specifically, obstacles to pursuing higher education for economically disadvantaged students. Through Baylor University's program, she is excited to mentor high school students in Waco, helping them achieve their future career goals. Ansley plans to attend medical school and continue to serve the disadvantaged.
