Millennium Fellowship Project: Improving Higher Education Access in Waco
The Improving Higher Education Access in Waco initiative partnered with AVID, an international program focused on providing college education prep to students with limited resources. Fellows each mentored two middle or high school students in the Waco community on what college looks like, how to succeed in college, fellows delivered presentations to over 8 local schools. and hosted an on-campus college day where students aged 12-17 came to Baylor University for a day, attended classes, and engaged in classroom activities.
About the Millennium Fellow
Bianca Shah is a sophomore political science and history student at Baylor University in Waco, TX, USA. Bianca has always been passionate about advocating for food security and education. Throughout high school, she was a part of her local food bank’s youth program, where she helped run multiple successful fundraisers. She has continued fighting against hunger at Baylor and hopes to be a part of more advocacy efforts in the future. After Bianca graduates, she hopes to attend law school and pursue a career in constitutional law or public policy.
