" I love contributing to my community. It make me feel amazing and drives my passion to work harder knowing I made a difference not just in the world, but individually in people's life. I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I get to share, not just mine but my peers as well, social justice impacts with others. I'm able to motivate others to contribute to UN SDG goals. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Voices of Vision
This project is all about listening to the people who make service and civic engagement happen at Bentley—students, faculty, alumni, and community partners—and sharing their stories. These are the folks who have spent time working on real world issues, from education to technology and food insecurity to global partnerships, and we want to know their motivation and reasoning behind what they do and what the actions they have taken so far. Stories can spark change and empower. By creating a platform to highlight peoples first hand experiences, we hope to help others see the world from various points of view. Maybe that helps start better conversations and maybe unlikely connections. Bentley’s Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Center (BSLCE) has been doing powerful, people-focused work for years—but it’s hard to capture in one conversation. So, we’re creating a digital and print collection of these stories, grouped by theme, that anyone can explore. We’ll launch it with an event that brings people together with speakers and celebration. In the end, we want this to be more than a project—it’s a starting point for deeper empathy, reflection, and maybe even some action toward bigger goals, like the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
About the Millennium Fellow
My name is Daisy Patel. I was born and raised in Massachusetts. I'm currently a senior at Bentley University studying finance and marketing. Throughout high school and college I've always been interested in social justice movements and advocacy. Even after I graduate from college and get a full time job, I hope to find opportunities where I continue to contribute to the United Nations goal. I'm so excited for this Fellowship and to work with my peers.
