Subtitle: Reviving Dhaka’s Waterways through Pollution Awareness and Community Action
Project Description:
AquaRevive is a Millennium Fellowship project. It is initiated by a team of 4 members from Bangladesh Maritime University. The subtitle of our program is Reviving Dhaka’s Waterways through Pollution Awareness and Community Action. Through this we want to focus on protecting and revitalizing our natural resources. Bangladesh is enriched with lots of waterways including rivers, lakes, ponds, canals etc. We are solely dependent on this natural resources. Here's Dhaka is our main city with overly crowded population. But it is now highly affected by pollution due to various reasons like human wastages, industrial effluent and other anthropogenic causes due to lack awareness. Through AquaRevive, we aim to create a meaningful awareness among them. We will aware them about the hazardous effects of water pollution, how it is affecting aquatic life also human lives and encourage the community to change. Our activities will include visiting various waterways near dhaka Or in dhaka where we will connect local community. We are aiming to do at least 4 events where will engage the local community through awareness campaign. We will supply posters, leaflets, thematic arts highlighting the impacts of water pollution. We will have community discussion about mitigation effort, what measures to take etc. Action oriented outreach where motivating people to adopt the sustainable habits and discourage them to do any practices which is harmful for the waterways and the aquatic lives. Our target is to connecting at least 200+ individuals during this program, sparkling a positive effect of knowledge sharing and behavioral changes. By combining awareness, community participation and sustainable suggestions, AquaRevive directly aligns with SDG 14. Also connects SDG 6,11 . We hope that it will lead us to have a healthier, cleaner environment in Dhaka's waterways. Sustainable eco sustainable us!
