United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: U5-I: Little Minds, Big Futures

The Under5Initiative is a community health project focused on reducing morbidity and mortality among children under the age of five through targeted health education, early detection, and improved access to preventive care. The initiative works to address the major causes of under-five deaths—such as malaria, pneumonia, diarrheal diseases, malnutrition, and poor vaccination uptake—by providing evidence-based interventions and empowering caregivers with practical knowledge.
Through school outreach programs, community sensitization, basic screenings, demonstrations on hygiene and nutrition, and collaborative engagement with local health centres, the Under5Initiative aims to strengthen health-seeking behaviors in families. Our approach combines medical expertise, culturally sensitive communication, and grassroots engagement to create sustainable improvements in child health outcomes in underserved communities.
The initiative is led by medical doctors & students committed to driving social impact, bridging health literacy gaps, and bringing essential care closer to vulnerable populations. Each outreach is designed to be interactive, accessible, and tailored to the unique needs of the communities we serve.

About the Millennium Fellow

Omah Praises Onyekachi is a bright, young and passionate nursing student of Bowen University, Ogbomoso. She was born in Nigeria and hails from Imo State, Owerri. She is passionate about promoting wellness and good mental well being in the society. She looks forward to addressing pressing issues like depression and also fostering an environment that empowers individuals to prioritize their mental health. She is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with organizations like the united nations to make a positive change. Through this collaboration, she aims to contribute to creating a society where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.
