Millennium Fellowship Project: U5-I: Little Minds, Big Futures
The Under5Initiative is a community health project focused on reducing morbidity and mortality among children under the age of five through targeted health education, early detection, and improved access to preventive care. The initiative works to address the major causes of under-five deaths—such as malaria, pneumonia, diarrheal diseases, malnutrition, and poor vaccination uptake—by providing evidence-based interventions and empowering caregivers with practical knowledge.
Through school outreach programs, community sensitization, basic screenings, demonstrations on hygiene and nutrition, and collaborative engagement with local health centres, the Under5Initiative aims to strengthen health-seeking behaviors in families. Our approach combines medical expertise, culturally sensitive communication, and grassroots engagement to create sustainable improvements in child health outcomes in underserved communities.
The initiative is led by medical doctors & students committed to driving social impact, bridging health literacy gaps, and bringing essential care closer to vulnerable populations. Each outreach is designed to be interactive, accessible, and tailored to the unique needs of the communities we serve.
About the Millennium Fellow
Queen Ayoola Alabi is a young,vibrant and goal oriented nursing science student at Bowen University, Ogbomosho She was born in Ilorin, Kwara State, resides in Ilorin and is currently studying in Ogbomosho.
Throughout her high school years and currently in college , she has successfully helped other students achieve academic excellence and achieve social impact in their community. She plans to continue in the future with a better structure and provide her own contribution in the development of the United Nation's Sustainable Goals .
