Millennium Fellowship Project: Vital Earth Organics
Collection of Organic waste from university premises and converting it into compost with the help of worms, which can be used as a natural fertiliser source for enhancing the fertility of land without the need for going for synthetic or artificial fertilisers, which can cause drastic health effects to humans as well as the local ecosystem. This organic waste, which also ends up in waste dumping sites, produces huge amounts of GHGs as well as promoting the growth of vector diseases that can harm the environment and also cause a threat to human health. This also aligns with UN SDGs 2, 3, and 13, as this helps in moving towards sustainable agriculture practices. A more healthy environment for humans and move towards a cleaner surroundings.
