United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Health for All Initiative

The initiative I am intending to accomplish is increased education in unaddressed rural communities about hygiene and preventive care in addition to reducing self-treatment. The audience or target is rural resident, particularly women, children and older adults, who face barriers to accessing health care. Activities will include the following: Hygiene and healthy educational workshops, Free medical outreach organized by volunteer doctors, Training of local health advocates, Distribution of educational pamphlets translated into the local languages, Collaborating with the NGOs and government agencies for resources. The anticipated outcomes are: Increased education about hygiene and preventive care, Reduced self-treatment, Access to basic health care will be enhanced. The community will be empowered to take action about their health.

About the Millennium Fellow

Aliyu Hassan Abdulkadir, from Rimi Local Government in Katsina State, is a dedicated student of mechatronics engineering at Bayero University in Nigeria. He combines his engineering skills with a strong commitment to social impact. Aliyu is passionate about technology and community development. He works to reduce inequalities in access to healthcare and education in underprivileged communities. His goal is to address urgent social problems and drive positive change in northern Nigeria.
