Millennium Fellowship Project: Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Stewardship
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) awareness is an ongoing project headed by myself, the President of the Club. We're educating and creating awareness about the AMR threats and how to avoid it. We recruits new members in order to sustain the club. The objectives of the Club and the project are: 1. To promote sustainability in raising awareness about Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in campuses and the host community through education, campaign, advocacy, and social events. 2. To establish a platform for nurturing, training and retraining AMR Youth Champions who will lead the fight against AMR. 3. To foster multidisciplinary collaboration to address AMR through clinical, basic and social science approaches. 4. To provide platform for promoting and supporting research, innovation, and interventions aimed at combating AMR threats at both local and international levels. 5. To act as a hub for professional development, networking and engagement in public health matters related to AMR. What we're doing to achieve the objectives: 1. We organizes Campus activities to educate the students and staff. 2. We carries out community engagement activities to enlighten the public. 3. We use Radio stations and social media handles to create awareness to the public.
About the Millennium Fellow
Yahaya Lawan Muhammad is a passionate young leader and Doctor of Pharmacy student at Bayero University Kano (BUK), Nigeria. As President of the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Club BUK, he has organized and led numerous community outreach programs, creating awareness on the dangers of AMR and promoting responsible medicine use. Beyond his leadership roles in multiple student associations, Yahaya is passionate about advancing public health, AMR Stewardship, and sustainable healthcare solutions through advocacy, research, and grassroots action. His dedication to combating global health challenges and interest in research aligns with his vision to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
