UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT ZAHRA ANJUM, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Bangladesh University of Professionals | Dhaka, Bangladesh | Advancing SDG 10, SDG 4 & UNAI 9

" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it will give me the opportunity to turn my passion for human dignity, justice, and youth empowerment into meaningful action. I have many ideas in my mind, but I am unsure how to implement them effectively. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I hope to identify my limitations and challenges, develop practical skills, and learn how to bring positive, lasting change. I also look forward to connecting with like-minded peers around the world and learning from their experiences. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Dignity in Action
My project seeks to strengthen the understanding and practice of human dignity among young people in Bangladesh. Too often, dignity is overlooked or misunderstood, yet it is the foundation of human rights, solidarity, equality, freedom, and overall sustainable development. As Vice President of World Youth Alliance Bangladesh Chapter, I have worked to promote dignity-centred education, advocacy, and dialogue with youth across the country. World Youth Alliance (WYA) is a United Nations (UN) ECOSOC-accredited organization that works to promote the dignity of the human person and human rights through policy, education, and cultural initiatives.
Through the Millennium Fellowship, I aim to expand this initiative by engaging more high school and university students, who are our future leaders, to make them informed citizens capable of discussing the meaning of dignity, challenging stereotypes and inequalities, embracing respect for every human person, and applying the principles of dignity and equality in all spheres of life.
This project directly contributes to SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by empowering young people to question harmful norms, reduce discrimination, and foster a culture of respect and equality. By recognising the intrinsic worth of every individual, students will be inspired to integrate dignity into their daily decisions and future leadership roles, helping to build a more inclusive, just, and sustainable society.
Measurable Goals (August–December 2025):
- Conducting at least 2 online sessions on human dignity with high school and university students.
- Expanding outreach to as many Bangladeshi schools and universities as possible to engage a broader youth audience.
- If funding is secured, organising offline sessions and publishing leaflets to promote awareness of human dignity.
