CETYS Universidad Tijuana | Tijuana, Mexico | Advancing SDG 11 & UNAI 3

" I am looking for a community driven by change. Proactivity, innovation, technology, teamwork, cooperation, and sustainability all are necessary characteristics for communities to thrive. The Millennium Fellowship program helps develop connections through young minds with the purpose of making the world a better place. I want to be part of this movement. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Journey
Journey is an app, currently under development, that aims to eliminate Tijuana's issues regarding public transportation, while also improving safety during commutes (Especially for women and students). My city's public transportation is confusing and unreliable, Journey offers a solution by providing tools for passengers to help them understand routes, locate Tijuana's unofficial stops, and be able to view real-time updates on active vehicles (of authenticated drivers). Security is increased by having authenticated driver profiles, with reviews written by other passengers. It also offers route suggestions based on the safety of the areas the ride passes through, giving our users the options to choose safer paths. Also, we provide an SOS button that, when pressed in case of emergency, it alerts the user's contacts and authorities. There is also a side project branched from Journey. We aim to create an app that serves as a carpool manager for students of CETYS Universidad. Students will be able to connect with other registered parents and students that live nearby and have similar class schedules to commute together to the University. Drivers and their passengers will be able to decide on the right amount of money the passenger should pay.
