" "I believe that participating as a Millennium Fellow is a unique opportunity to learn about activism and social causes around the world, the needs of each culture, and how their communities address them based on their abilities. Furthermore, collaborative work will allow me to contribute a different and creative perspective on how young people can have a significant impact globally." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: FORTES

FORTES is a leadership training initiative based on the Sustainable Development Goals, we seek to create spaces where young people learn about leadership, its importance, and their own potential to exercise it through social impact projects that address each SDG and build connections with civil society organizations, authorities, and decision-makers. We seek to transform the university experience for youth through leadership, awareness of global issues, and transformative experiences through weekly training sessions and community outreach interventions. The initiative strengthens youth empowerment and multidisciplinary collaboration, as it is formed by young university students from diverse majors at CETYS University. In addition, we seek to replicate this knowledge through the FORTES Leadership School, where we share what we've learned with children from diverse backgrounds and locations, motivating them to get involved in initiatives aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda. FORTES celebrates its tenth anniversary as an initiative across all CETYS University campuses, training ten generations of leaders since 2015 who are sensitive to social problems and capable of exercising leadership in resolving them. Our training and social impact projects demonstrate, one SDG at a time, that it is possible to generate change through education and socially responsible leadership.
