" "I am sure that I am not the only one scared of taking the first step, and then, of committing to walk down the path until the end goal. Sometimes, all you need is a little push to keep going. It's never a bad time to take the first step." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: TerraVita

I wouldn’t describe TerraVita as a term-defined project, but more like your typical student-led ecologist group, aiming towards sustainability within our campus and our city. Our main goal is to spread awareness of the impact that our daily actions have on the environment, and to take action with the mindset that many small solutions can contribute to a bigger solution when done consistently. We organize and partake in various activities and events that contribute to our goals, such as recycling days and an “eco-market” where we invite small business-owners, as well as other activities involving the community in our campus. We also collaborate with other groups around our city. To give an example, just last week, we gave a talk and had a small dynamic with the local Girl Scouts, and two weeks before that, we got involved with a statewide beach clean-up initiative that has been going for well over 2 decades.

About the Millennium Fellow

Sebastian Campaña Vázquez is a socially committed sophomore Logistics student in CETYS Universidad in Tijuana, Mexico. Born and raised in this same city, he's witnessed first-hand the development of his home region and the struggles that have come from said process. Though a bit awkward at first, he is someone who won't stop until he's arrived to the finish line. With this project, he hopes to expand collaboration networks and keep working towards sustainability.
