" "I am very passionate about political education as a tool for community empowerment. I believe that knowledge holds the power to make change and that everyone has a right, and sometimes a responsibility, to learn about their standing in the world. Political education is to learn about identity, power and interconnectedness and why giving back to different communities is so important. I hope that through the Millennium Fellowship I will help to inspire many young people around the world to meet and learn from each other with empathy and solidarity in order to stand up for social change." Millennium Fellowship Project: Let's Intersect - Understanding Global Justice

Let’s Intersect: Understanding Global Justice is an online short course created to educate and engage high school students on urgent global issues such as climate justice, gender inequalities, the impacts of colonialism, through an intersectional lens. The project emerged from our shared desire to create an accessible, inclusive, and intercultural space where young people can critically reflect on the world around them and begin developing the tools necessary to participate in global justice conversations. Rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the UNAI principles, the initiative seeks to empower youth through education while encouraging dialogue across differences.

About the Millennium Fellow

Emilia Rübbert is a bright, ambitious and globally engaged political science, philosophy and economics student at Central European University in Vienna. Born and raised in the region of former East Germany, she was politicized at an early age and grew up passionate about social justice, minority representation, and political education as a tool for community empowerment. Throughout her life, Emilia has shown continuous dedication to social action, representing students, engaging in local politics and shaping education. After finishing high school in Germany at the age of 17, she was awarded a scholarship to attend one of the prestigious United World Colleges in India, where she lived and studied for two years and acquired an international diploma. Her experience in the international community particularly inspired her interest in global justice, human rights and liberation movements. She aspires to be in a professional field where she can cultivate these advocacies further and continue to contribute to social impact work.
