" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it gives me the chance to learn from inspiring change makers around the world while working toward a more inclusive and fair society, which is of paramount importance as humans are social animals. I want to do this work because I believe that by understanding others and taking action together, we can break down barriers and create a future where everyone is equal and society works on merit. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Bharat Beyond Borders: Unity Against Discrimination
Bridges Beyond Borders is an ongoing initiative that has been initiated to address the various discriminatory aspects and reduce discrimination and racism faced by Indians and other marginalized communities by promoting empathy, cultural awareness, and understanding. The project highlights India’s civilizational legacy—its contributions to knowledge, philosophy, and global harmony—to challenge the stereotypes and biases that persist in modern global contexts.
Through research, dialogue sessions, and awareness campaigns, the project explores how racial and cultural prejudices—both external and internal—affect social cohesion and human progress. By organizing small-group discussions(within my society), collecting real experiences from students, and sharing educational content through digital media, the project fosters open conversations about equality and identity.
Currently, the project is in its research and engagement phase(that is, the collection of various inputs required to increase the horizon of knowledge in the same), focusing on gathering data, compiling experiences, and analyzing the intersection of race, culture, and perception. The next phase will involve developing a comprehensive research paper and a larger awareness campaign aimed at promoting mutual respect and empathy across communities and nations.
Ultimately, Bridges Beyond Borders intends to put forth a world where cultural diversity is celebrated, prejudice is replaced with understanding, and humanity unites beyond borders of race, nationality, or belief.
