Millennium Fellowship Project: Health and Livelihood for Her Dignity
Health and Livelihood for Her Dignity is an initiative focused on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and strengthening the dignity of female sex workers in Sangam Vihar, Delhi. The project works to create safe spaces where women can learn about health, ask questions freely, and access confidential counselling and testing services without fear or stigma.
Through community-based sessions, small group meetings, and one-on-one interactions, the project helps women understand safe sex practices, the importance of HIV testing, and the benefits of early treatment. For women who test positive, the project provides guidance on starting and continuing Antiretroviral Therapy (ART).
Alongside health awareness, the initiative also promotes economic independence through basic skill-building workshops such as tailoring and food-based micro-enterprises. These activities support women in building confidence, forming support networks, and taking greater control of their lives.
The project ultimately aims to combine awareness, empathy, and livelihood support to help women move toward safer, healthier, and more empowered futures
