" I believe that stories carry the memory of people and their cultures. As a Millennium fellow, I'm excited to document them and revive them for everyone in a country as diverse as India. I do this work because I believe that Literature is more than just old canonised books. It is a reflection of memories and experiences. I want to expand my creativity to keep them alive. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Deepa: Regional Literature Reservation.

Project Deepa started with a mere concept that stories can create empathy. Deepa operates on the idea that the regional literatures are the living libraries of human experience and strives to preserve, translate and represent the hive of India in telling its immense stories into the hands of young readers.
The project is in line with SDG 4 ( Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 11 ( Sustainable Cities and Communities). Its focus is:
To save the regional literatures and render them available by translation.
To develop new avenues in storytelling, which encourages culture sensitivity and multilingual appreciation among children.
