Millennium Fellowship Project: Guaranteeing Education Rights for all Burkinabè Children
Education is crucial for a nation’s growth and for individuals to thrive. However, in many African countries, children are not receiving education due to resource constraints that parents cannot afford and the government’s inability to provide free education. The past decade in Burkina Faso has been particularly challenging in terms of security, with numerous schools closed, leaving a vast majority of children behind without proper education. Moreover, many military and police officers have lost their lives defending the country against terrorist and jihadist attacks in northern Burkina Faso, and their children are also left behind without adequate knowledge and guidance. As Gandhi famously said, “Be the change you want to see.†Inspired by this, I have decided to become a change maker and contribute in any way I can. I am working to create a database of children in need of education and find individuals in the diaspora and across the world who are willing to support these children in obtaining the right education they need to succeed in life.
