" Menstrual equity is my passion, but making a tangible impact is almost impossible without a strong team. Millennium Fellowship would connect me with passionate individuals whose collaborative efforts would enable me to take menstrual equity work to a community-wide level. Working with a diverse group of individuals would allow us to exchange and bolster our ideas, producing a more impactful final project. I am excited to bring menstrual equity and education to my local community, and hopefully worldwide. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Period: Menstrual Equity Campaign

My project aims to increase menstrual equity not only on an individual level but also on a community-wide level. Though on-campus education and advocacy are important, spreading the word to the general public is even more beneficial. I envision hosting a large event to destigmatize women’s health, raise awareness of disparities, and distribute menstrual products to those in need. This multifaceted project would begin with fundraising and education initiatives. I would create and distribute informational pamphlets about menstrual equity and reusable menstrual products across campus and in the lower-income areas of Ithaca. I would also organize fundraisers and period product drives to distribute products to local women’s and homeless shelters in the Ithaca area. The final culmination of this project would be a large fair-type event in the city of Ithaca, featuring a prominent speaker on menstrual equity, additional fundraising, by selling other eco-friendly, reusable products like crocheted heating pads and microfiber towels, and informational booths with free reusable menstrual products and advice on how the general public can make an impact. Proceeds from the event would be donated to The Pad Project, an NGO that provides essential menstrual supplies to women in need.
