" I believe that lasting change starts when young people take bold action. Through my work, I strive to create a more just, inclusive world where every voice, regardless of race, ability, or background, has the power to shape our shared future. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: AdvoSpectrum

AdvoSpectrum is an international movement empowering the global neurodivergent community through the expansion of resources, advocacy, and intersectional activism around the world.
During the Millennium Fellowship, AdvoSpectrum successfully advanced its mission of promoting inclusivity and awareness around neurodiversity and disability advocacy in education. Our primary goal was to design and share resources that highlight the importance of accessible learning environments and equitable representation within school communities. By the end of the fellowship, we hosted two workshops for educators and students that reached over 100 participants, created an online toolkit with Universal Design for Learning (UDL)-based strategies, and collaborated with local organizations to share our materials more broadly.

About the Millennium Fellow

Kristie To is a pre-law student at Cornell University originally from Southern California. At just 14 years old, she launched Hearts Against Hate, a nonprofit organization to combat racial disparities and inequities in law and legal systems worldwide, distributing over 50,000 care packages to ethnic minorities through more than 1,000 volunteer projects across the globe. Her leadership has garnered over $100,000 in funding and support from institutions and companies including Princeton University, Hershey, Taco Bell, Converse, AmeriCorps, and the LA Times. Kristie is also the Executive Director & Co-Founder of AdvoSpectrum, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, which empowers the global neurodivergent community through policy and intersectional activism. She helped organize the first-ever East African autism awareness events in Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Kenya to establish autism training, therapy centers, and international awareness initiatives for neurodivergent children. After graduating, Kristie plans to pursue a career in law and global human rights advocacy, working at the intersection of justice, equity, and international development.
